When you create an account, we collect your first name and the information you provide during onboarding — the name of the deceased, the property location, and your probate status. We also collect any documents you upload and the messages you send to our guide.
When you use the AI guide, your messages are transmitted to Anthropic (our AI model provider) to generate responses. We send only the text of your message and general categorical context about your estate (county, probate stage, document checklist status) — not your name, the deceased's name, property address, or other identifying fields. Conversations are stored in Kindeed's database for quality review and safety monitoring, accessible only to Kindeed staff. Do not share sensitive personal details (Social Security numbers, financial account numbers) in the guide. See Anthropic's privacy policy for how they handle data on their end.
We measure how our site is used, and only in aggregate. Kindeed counts page views through a privacy-preserving analytics tool run by Cloudflare, who already host this site — it sets no cookies, records no session replay, and creates no identifier that could follow you to any other website or link one visit to the next. We can see that a page was visited; we cannot see that you visited it. This measurement runs across the site, including on pages you see once you are signed in, and what it records is the address of the page and your browser's general type and country — never the contents of the page, never anything you typed, and never who you are. We run no advertising or identity-tracking software of any kind, and we never share this data with advertisers. Our servers additionally keep short-lived operational logs (the route requested, an internal account identifier, a status code) needed to keep the service running and secure; they are never used to build a profile of you and are never sold or shared.
We use your information to provide the Kindeed service — to show you a relevant probate timeline, to organize your documents, and to personalize the guide’s responses. That is the whole of it: we do not profile you, and we do not use your information for advertising.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with marketing partners or lead-list buyers. We do not share your information with real estate advisors or attorneys without your explicit permission.
Documents you upload are encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting and storage providers. Only people you explicitly invite to your estate file — and our small support team, for the limited purpose of helping you — can access your documents. Every upload is also scanned for malware by a third-party service before it can be downloaded; see our Terms for how that works.
When you send a request to a real estate advisor or attorney through Kindeed, that request carries your name, the property location, the estate record it relates to, and anything you write in the message itself.
If the provider accepts your request, they gain access to that estate record — the property details, your inheritance path and probate stage, the timeline, and any photos you have added — and they can write notes and assessments onto it, which you can read. Uploaded documents are not included: a provider sees a document only if you grant access to that specific file. You control what else you share directly with any provider.
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Your account is closed immediately, your sign-in is revoked, and your estate data stops being visible in the service straight away.
Thirty days later, everything is permanently erased by a job that runs once a day: your account record, your estate, the documents you uploaded and the stored files themselves, property photos, conversations and messages, bookings, requests you sent to providers, and the access you granted to family members. Erasure completes within 31 days of your request, and we keep nothing after that. The one exception is a deletion receipt — an internal account identifier, the date, and a count of how many records were erased — which we retain so we can prove the erasure happened. It contains no name, email, address, or anything you wrote.
